1. The short version

Vaile sets no cookies. It uses your browser’s own storage for one thing only: keeping you signed in. There is no analytics, no advertising and no tracking across other sites.

2. What cookies and browser storage are

A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep, so it can recognise the browser later. Browsers also offer other storage that works in a similar way, such as local storage and IndexedDB. This policy covers all of them on this website.

3. What this website stores in your browser

• Your sign-in. When you sign in, Google’s Firebase Authentication, which runs our accounts, keeps a record in your browser’s storage that you are signed in, so you do not have to sign in on every page. It stays until you sign out or clear your browser’s data. It is strictly necessary: without it the tools cannot know it is you.
• Your email address, briefly. If you ask for a sign-in link by email, the address you typed is kept in your browser until you open the link, so you are not asked for it again. It is removed as soon as the link is used.

Neither is used to advertise to you or to follow you to other sites, and neither is shared with anyone.

4. What it does not use

• No analytics or measurement tools.
• No advertising, retargeting or social media tags.
• No fonts, scripts or images loaded from other companies’ servers. Every page is served by us.

5. Signing in with Google

If you choose to sign in with Google, Google’s own sign-in window opens. Google may set its own cookies there, under Google’s privacy policy. A sign-in link we email you is sent and checked by the same Google service, and passes briefly through a Google address on its way back to Vaile.

6. Managing it

You can clear your browser’s cookies and site data at any time, usually under Settings, then Privacy. Clearing it signs you out. Signing out in Vaile also removes your sign-in from the browser.

7. If this changes

If we ever add anything that stores information in your browser for another purpose, such as measuring how the website is used, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
