We never keep your passport or visa. We note the details; you add a copy when a pack asks for one. Your serology and police check are locked with your face or fingerprint. Only you can open them. Every send follows a live ID check with Stripe.
What it is
Before you work at a hospital, agency or health service, it checks your registration, qualifications, ID, police and child checks, immunity and references. Each asks for its own set in its own order. Your documents expire on different dates.

Registration
Your first registration, and what it costs each year.
Apply up to 90 days before you finish, including placements. Ahpra checks your identity and criminal history and waits for your results from the university. You can start work once your name is on the register.

You pay an application fee and a registration fee when you first apply. Doctors’ fees from 1 August 2026; nurses’ for 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2027; the others for the year to 30 November 2026. From 9 October 2026 to 4 January 2027 new medical graduates can defer the $543 until 31 March 2027. Dental registration lapses if not renewed by 31 December. Source: Ahpra and the National Boards.
Training
We track your training from your own documents.
Doctors in specialist training answer to their college, which sets the exams, the assessments and which posts count. Every registered practitioner also has a yearly CPD requirement.

What to know
CPD
Log your CPD against your board’s standard.
Your national board sets a yearly CPD requirement. You declare it at renewal. Each year the boards audit a random sample of practitioners, who must show their records.

Moving to another state
What changes when you move to another state.
Your registration moves with you. Your child check and your licence do not.

| Your registration | Nothing to transfer: it is national. Update your address and principal place of practice in the Ahpra portal. The suburb is published on the register. |
| Working with children | Each state runs its own check. Short visits are exempt: under 30 days in NSW, up to 30 days a year in Victoria, 2 weeks in WA, 28 days in the ACT. Queensland recognises no other state’s check, but a registered practitioner working in their profession needs no blue card there. Tasmania lets a new resident use their old check until it expires. In the NT an employer can get you a short-term exemption while your Ochre Card is processed. |
