On a 482, 491 or 494 visa, childcare and state school can cost more until you have permanent residence, and a child’s age decides whether they can be on your permanent visa application.

A child can be included in most permanent visa applications while under 18, or aged 18 to 22 if they depend on you and are not married, engaged or in a de facto relationship. From 23, only a child who depends on you because of a disability can be included.
