Doctors
BMA and IMO
- BMA members living outside the UK pay £27.67 a month from 1 October 2025. Some benefits change. You cancel through its membership form.
- The Irish Medical Organisation’s overseas membership is free.

Nurses and midwives
RCN and INMO
- Outside the UK, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, the RCN is not a trade union. It suggests joining a local union when you arrive. Its career break rate is £10 a year.
- The INMO’s associate rate, for members not working as a nurse or midwife, is €80.
