Studying from overseas.
International students meet the same placement list as everyone else, with more steps and more cost: overseas records, a TB test the visa medical does not replace, and a police check from home.
Studying from overseas
International students
- The student visa health check looks for active TB. It does not check immunity, and its chest x-ray does not meet the TB requirement, so your faculty still needs your blood tests and a TB test.
- Overseas vaccinations are not on the Australian Immunisation Register. A GP records them once you have an Individual Healthcare Identifier from myGov; records not in English need a certified translation, free through Home Affairs.
- Overseas student health cover excludes the visa medical and often the pathology.
- You need a police check from home as well as the Australian one.
